Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

2 ½ cups flour
⅔ cup light brown sugar
¾ cup butter
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup toffee baking bits

1. Thoroughly combine flour and sugar. Cut butter in until mixture resembles corn meal. Add egg and mix to combine. Remove 1 ½ cups of the flour mixture and set aside.
2. Add 1 ½ cups chocolate chips and all of the nuts to the remaining flour mixture. Blend well, then press into the bottom of a parchment lined 9x13 baking pan. Bake at 350˚F for 10 min, then cool slightly on a wire rack.
3. To the reserved crumb mixture, add ¾ cups toffee bits and remaining (½ cup) chocolate chips.
4. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the slightly cooled crust and spread evenly. Sprinkle top evenly with reserved crumb mixture.
5. Bake until golden brown, about 25 – 30 min. Sprinkle with ¼ cup toffee bits and cool on a wire rack until firm enough to cut into bars.
